CAR FREE DAYS

Out and About - Mevagissey

Leave the car and opt to walk, cycle or hop on the bus. When you stay at River Valley Holiday Park you can enjoy car-free days out that will keep the whole family entertained. Here are some of our favourite places to go:

Pentewan

It's an easygoing, family-friendly stroll or bike ride from your caravan or tent to this seaside hamlet at the end of the Pentewan Valley Trail.

Mevagissey

A four-mile walk along the valley trail (or a short bus ride) takes you to this traditional fishing village where you can visit the museum, aquarium or cast off on a fishing trip.

Charlestown

About an hour's off-road hike from River Valley is the historic Charlestown harbour, home of the majestic Square Sail tall ships and the fascinating Shipwreck and Heritage Centre.

Fowey

A tangle of cobbled streets with waterfront cafes, boutiques and character cottages, this ancient Cornish seaport is a sailing mecca rich in maritime culture. To get here from River Valley you can walk along the valley trail (or take the bus) to Mevagissey, then hop on a ferry to Fowey.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Walk or cycle to this sub-tropical jungle and make sure you stop in at Lobb's farm shop at the entrance to stock up on local treats.

The Eden Project

With its tropical biomes, summer concerts and squeaky-green message to the world, the Eden Project is an international crowd-puller. From River Valley it's just a bus hop into St Austell then onto Eden, or you can arrive bike and get a discount on your entrance fee for keeping up with the eco-friendly credentials the attraction is famous for.
